Dionissis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Environmental Engineering. He received his B.S. and M.Sc. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete. Currently his main focus is on techniques for developing intelligent environmental sensor networks and database systems with emphasis on statistical analysis of environmental data. Also, on the design of dynamic environmental systems based on microprocessors and reconfigurable logic with emphasis in RTOS (real-time operating systems) and embedded systems architecture. Dionissis also has more than 9 years’ experience in environmental monitoring stations, both in terms of hardware (deployment, configuration and management) and software through the development of specialized software for managing and analyzing environmental data. Finally, as a freelancer, he has over 10 years’ experience in developing web-based applications, websites/databases and in offering IT support as a systems administrator in a range of companies and institutions.
